Idell Family Vineyards, founded in 2005 by Richard Idell and Susan Kornblatt Idell, is known for producing some of Sonoma County 's finest grapes. The appellation is Sonoma Valley, bordering on Sonoma Coast. The Idell Family Vineyards has partnered with viticulturist and vintner Steve Matthaisson of Napa to develop a world class vineyard. In addition to producing our own wine, Chardonnay grapes, from our Michael Mara Vineyard™, are currently sold to Arnot-Roberts, Kesner Wines, Scholium Project, and also made into wine by Matthiasson Family Vineyard, all small premium wineries making hand-crafted wine. The soil is similar to the rocky sections of the Durell vineyard, which is right around the corner. From the planting of the first vines, Steve Matthiasson continues to oversee vineyard operations for the Chardonnay Vineyard and additional red-wine plantings of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah and Syrah, the Oscar® Vineyard. Richard and Susan currently produce Syrah (2007 and 2008), a Zinfandel/Petite Sirah field blend (2010) and a Chardonnay (2009).

about clip image001

Nestled in the Sonoma Valley region, Idell Family Vineyards is located approximately two and a half miles west of the town of Sonoma. The vineyard is located to west of the Town of Sonoma near the old original estate of Sonoma pioneer Nicholas Carriger. This location provides afternoon breezes helping to slow ripening and to produce richer-flavored grapes.
